If the heart is on the earth, meaning if one’s conduct desires earthly gain, how can it be purified while he wallows in the earth? But if the heart is in heaven, it will be pure, for everything in heaven is pure. Things become polluted by mingling with impure silver, and our thoughts become polluted by coveting earthly matters despite the purity and beauty of the earth and its arrangement in itself.
